PIN & STRECTH TECHNIQUE (aka Active Release Technique ART)

Pin & Stretch is a soft tissue technique that is movement and deep massage -based. It’s aim is to treat soft tissue (muscle, tendon, ligament, nerve) injuries associated with overuse.  As a Sports Chiropractic Physician in Middleton, ID, Dr. Harris has advanced training in how to “feel” for damage, as well as the texture, movement, and tension relationship of the soft tissues in the surrounding structures.

This technique involves taking the soft tissue through full range of motion while tension is applied and maintained. This forces shortened tissues to return to their normal length faster and more efficiently than stretching. Pin & Stretch also relaxes muscles that are tight or spasmed and can break up scar tissue and adhesions that have formed within the tissue. While this provides symptomatic relief, it also allows the injured ares to be strengthened and prevents injury re-occurrence. Pin & Stretch can be used to treat the following:

Who Can Benefit From Pin & Stretch / ART?

Injured athletes are not the only ones who can benefit from Active Release Technique. Ordinary people who experience neck pain, shoulder pain, back pain, and other muscle pain may benefit from this therapy as well.  In fact, all the advanced training in sports medicine and soft tissue treatment can be applied to help an individual completing everyday tasks.  For example, a person who sits in front of a computer and clicks a mouse 400 times a day or a person who has neck pain from looking down at a phone or device can find immense relief in an ART session. Active Release Technique has a very high improvement rate compared to other therapy techniques.
