FAKTR -PM

What Is FAKTR?

FAKTR (actually FAKTR-PM, but referred to as FAKTR) stands for “Functional And Kinetic Treatment with Rehabilitation, Provocation and Motion.” It was developed to help speed recovery from chronic musculoskeletal pain syndromes and has also been shown to work extremely well to treat acute chiropractic musculoskeletal/fascial conditions.

FAKTR involves the combination of several different forms of chiropractic therapy. Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) is used to locate and remove myofascial adhesions or restrictions. These therapies, in combination with rehabilitation exercises, strengthen the tissues while restrictions are being removed.

FAKTR also allows the patient to be treated in a position of provocation. This means that the patient is treated in a position that causes symptoms like pain, tightness, or stiffness. By treating patients in a position of provocation, the provider is able to locate and treat the problem that is causing the symptoms.

What Conditions Does FAKTR Help Resolve?

  • Lower back pain

  • Headaches

  • Decreased neck range of motion

  • Chronic conditions

  • Injuries with complex compensation patterns

  • Shoulder injuries

  • Wrist pain

  • Back pain

  • Hip pain

  • Rotator cuff injuries

  • Impingement syndrome of the shoulder

  • Impingement syndrome of the hip

  • Neck pain

Who May Benefit From FAKTR?

Often people have tried multiple therapies to resolve an injury or condition and have been unsuccessful.  In situations where chronic conditions or injuries with complex compensation patterns exist, FAKTR often helps initiate improvements that lead to decreased symptoms and significant improvements. This is especially true when the patient has pain with a specific movement or activity such as; throwing or hitting motion, sitting for prolonged periods, bending to put socks on or pick something up, or other activities of daily living.  Putting the patient into the position, activity, or movement that is painful (position of provocation), and applying manual therapy  combined with resisted motion often causes a stubborn condition  to respond positively.  This is especially useful in chronic pain conditions.
